and please do not say ebay or amazon :)

Answer: Fujufilm cameras take Instax film not polaroid film. Unlike Polaroid film Instax is quite easy to get hold of, most large specialist photography stores will either stock it, or be able to get it for you.

I want to begin learning and experimenting with studio lighting. I have a project in mind and am prepared to spend years on this if necessary. My friend lent me some meniscus lights and reflectors, but I want some softboxes or umbrella diffusers + my own lights + light stands + reflectors. Help?

Question: What is the essential lighting for a portrait studio?

I am beginning a study and only a small light a light box to start. I have my scenarios in mind, but I'm sure the size it should receive. What should I need lighting, light meters, umbrellas, etc

Answer: If your budget allows, a 3-light setup would be ideal for most situations. – 1 W Main light / Lightbox – 1 fill light w / – 1 lightbox more light to act as a backlight or hairlight. If you can not buy a fill light, a reflector may be an alternative decent. The backlight is needed to get rid of the shadows cast by the subject in depth. If you use a narrow DOF, you can probably live without it. Assuming that the lights are optically active, you just need a flash cable (usually comes bundled with your course) that goes from the camera to the main light. Other things you may need: – Means light – a holder for your backdrop – incident light meter (I use Sekonic) – a very sturdy tripod, perhaps with lockable castors (wheels) – an adjustable bench Banks prefer light on the umbrella, so I do not use umbrellas, however, could be wrong about this, umbrella, but could have wider coverage for which depends on its implementation. If you are doing mostly portraits waist up or face the Softboxes should be sufficient. If you are doing portraits of body whole or large umbrellas will Softboxes. Now if you have plenty of cash, you can get Pocketwizard settings to make everything wireless. You can even trigger your flash meter with some configurations. (If you are always doing the work of internal study, do not think you have to consider the Pocketwizards.) alienbees Check out some good teams, or trying to rent a kit of your local photo store. The lights have alienbees modeling includes well as optical triggers.
