Answer: It is difficult to say with brands generic as this, but the first link seems higher quality to me for some reason. Question: Should I unplug it or take the lower unit for repair?

I have 1998, a 30 horsepower Mercury outboard motor, that damage to The Skegg & prop had. A new Skegg has been welded and the welded & balanced prop. It goes into the storm & reverse light. If you do it in reverse The support is not to right or left, makes sense. If you do it in front of the prop does not turn to the left, makes sense. But it is on the right side and makes a clicking sound, makes no sense. There was no metal, when I drank, the lower end. I'm afraid to try it now, because the noise and start rotation of the proposal on the right side. I do not know whether there is any damage to the forward gear at the bottom. Johnson motor, the locks on my proposal in motion and does not rotate either direction. Is something wrong with gear, or is it normal for Mecury Engines? Shound I start?

Answer: If you are a low forward gear lock on Ratchet left and right. If you run it into the opposite, it will lock it to the right and the ratchet on the left side. This is normal and nothing wrong. Johnson's are different designed and one is not it ..
