Question: Can I use this lens?

Hi, my dad has a canon eos rebel 2000, a slr. he wants to buy the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM Telephoto Zoom Lens, so i was wondering if this lens will fit with my camera. i have a canon eos rebel xsi, a dslr.

Answer: Yes it will work very well with your Rebel, as well as with his. The Rebel 2000 is a film SLR and has an “EF” lens mount. Your Rebel XSi has a “EF-S” mount, but can take both EF and EF-S mount lenses. Your father’s camera will only be able to take the EF lenses.

Q: SLR ….? Canon lens question

Hello, I wonder if the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS telephoto zoom lens III is good for portraits. If the lens has good lighting and depth of focus? Thank you and please if you can provide links to photos so that I can see how come? Thanks! ** I use Canon Xti *** I will use for multiple purposes such as portraits, landscapes, macro and Thanks!

Answer: The 75-300mm can work for portraits, but the image quality is not very large. It's a cheap lens and it shows. Personally, I'd rather shoot a more fertile economic this goal. A cousin can also give a much shallower depth of field if you want too. The EF 70-300 F/4-5.6 IS USM is a good shaper bits, better contrast and adds image stabilization for hand-held shooting at shutter speeds slower. Af/4-5.6 what is the depth of field which open surface can still be sufficient to isolate the subject from the background. For what it's worth, I had this goal until a week or so ago. I really liked and the only reason it was sold to finance the upgrade to 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM EF. cousins I mentioned or a single focal length lenses. If you are looking at the EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 IS III stay within a budget and have only lens for portraits, I think it will have better results with a prime number. The "clever-fifty-EF 50mm F1.8 II (approx. $ 100) and 85 mm f/1.8 USM EF (approx. $ 380) are great portrait lenses for digital SLR. Due to its wide opening, can provide a depth much more surface area than is possible with almost any zoom covering the same focal lengths.
