Question: Ways to save energy to heat in the coming winter months? My family lives in a flat bi-level consists of: 3 bedrooms bed, 2.5 bathrooms, kitchen, living room and dining room. There 'something happened to keep the heat and energy in your apartment? ie bulbs for energy-efficient lighting, special filters, etc. How do you keep your house warm without emptying your wallet?
Answer: I do not know what kind of aparttment you live, but if your LP or natural gas, then using an infrared heater in one of the larger areas like a room or a living will help. Infrared heaters are 98% efficient, in contrast to central heat, which is only about 65% efficient. Addition, the insulation will save beafing a lot. Not much can be done on the walls, if you live in another property, but little things like the rubber seals around and under doors and windows can be improved. They sell the kits you can buy, which puts a neoprene rubber seal around your window, and then cover it with a transparent plastic material. The fix is not more attractive, but it really works, and only costs 3 or $ 4 for each window. If you want to run the dryer until evening, when its cooler, and the heat emitted from the dryer will help to heat the house.Obviously, turn off all lights and appliances when leaving the room, helps. You can also get a thermostat "timer" at Wal-Mart and most hardware stores, which can replace the thermostat on the wall outlet. What is allows you to set the thermostat to remain outside during the hours no one is home (eg school, work, etc.) and kick back on about 30 minuttes first go home. But only a cost of about $ 30. Hope this helps
