Question: Can you get any kind of lens filter for the Fuji Finepix S1000 to protect the lens? The cover falls off. ?
Answer: The S1000 does not have a ‘normal’ screw mount for attaching a filter, and there doesn’t appear to be a Fuji accessory fit filter (see website) which isn’t very helpful.
I asked the same question when I bought mine, and even the local specialist camera store couldn’t find a suitable filter.
Another excellent place to find Protect Filter is on Amazon… They have way more than just books!

Question: How can I remove black paper from the back of old photographs?
I inherited an old family album from the early 1900′s, someone glued the photos to the old black paper. I can tell there is writing on the back where the back is visible but there is so much black paper stuck on that I can’t read it. I’d love to know what is written, who the people are in the pictures, the year…but I don’t want to ruin the photos. There are so many, I could never afford to have a professional do this for me.
Answer: That depends … if the glue that attached the photos was water soluble, then you can soak them one at a time until the paper releases. Since photos are washed in water in the first place, it will not hurt them. When the air dry, they may curl and they may not have the shine they once had, but if you are willing to accept that, you will have no more black paper on them.
