Question: Cleaning the mirror on a Canon Rebel XSi?
I just got a Canon Rebel XSi. I've only had it for a few days when I noticed a hair-like line in the corner when I looked through the viewfinder. I wiped down the lens and the viewfinder, but it was still there. Then I took the lens off and gently wiped the mirror. Is that okay to do? I hope I didn't mess anything up. The line is gone and it doesn't seem like I messed anything up, I just want to know did I just get lucky or is this okay to do.
Answer: No, you are should never touch the mirror. It has a front mirror surface which can be damaged if you touch it. If it really bugging you, take it to a repair shop and have them clean it for you.
It will NOT effect your images at all.
