I agree with what others have said that no card is ever bad. With both of these appearing in a reading my take on it would be that you have someone on the brink of having to make some important changes and who is very resistant to them.

I like to think of it as an extension to Death. With Death we are being reminded that transformation and change are natural parts of life. You are being asked to look at what is happening in your life and make a choice. When the Tower appears, you’ve decided to not commit to a course of action so one is being decided for you. Forcefully and quickly, your life will be moving in a different direction. Is that a bad thing? Depends on your perspective.

With the Ten of Swords, it is a bitter and bleak time but it is important to remember how much of it is a mental process. This isn’t to say that there aren’t real issues but that the constant reliving of what went wrong doesn’t help. With the Ten of Swords, you often see someone who feels that they are being punished and who thinks a lot about what is wrong in their life. The other point to remember is that the darkest hour is just before down. However bad things seem right now, you are just at the point of change.
