Question: How do you set 1080p viewing on new Panasonic Viera plasma tv?
I have recently bought the Panasonic Viera TH42PZ85BA plasma tv and have SKY HD+ installed but all programmes show that it’s 1080i input instead of 1080p. Tried to find details in the manual on how to change the picture but no proper detail on it. Any help appreciated thanks.
Forgot to add that the tv is Full HD enabled, so it’s not that it doesn’t support 1080p to begin with.Answer: Broadcast resolution is maximum 1080i at this time. What your tv does is receive the 1080i signal and then upconverts it to 1080p. What you see, is 1080p. Blu Ray players and newer game systems can provide 1080p to your tv. Otherwise, the tv has to do the upconverting, it does it automatically with any signal it receives and you can’t do anything to set it.

Question: I’m getting into photography…?
what are the bassics i should know?
ill be using a pentax p30t. the front of the lens says TAKUMAR-A ZOOM 1:3.5~4.5 28~80mm. What doese all that mean?
any ideas to take pictures of to start out?
any suggestions are appreciated
Answer: Okay, to start off it is helpful to know about the aperture (f stop) and the shutter speed.
The aperture is the hole or opening through which light is admitted. Think of it as the camera’s eye. If it is really bright out, you squint, right? So the aperture would be closed some (like your eye). If it is dark out, the aperture would be opened wide. It can get a bit confusing to translate this to set the f stop. Read the first link for a full explanation of how this works.
The shutter speed is is the length of time a shutter is open; the total exposure is proportional to this exposure time, or duration of light reaching the film or image sensor. Let’s say you are in a low light situation and you can’t use your flash. You would choose a long shutter speed to the image had time to saturate the film. You would need a tripod for longer shutter speeds, to avoid camera shake.
To make it easy at first. I would first determine where to set your aperture. It’s easy because you go by what your eyes are doing (squinting, wide open…) Then look through your camera and point at object to be photographed. Lightly press the shutter release (not enough to take the picture, about half that) and you should see a scale inside camera that tells you where to set shutter speed to. As you change the shutter speed (while looking through lens) it will align when it is set to best match.
Now, if you are really interested in learning. You should get a notebook and try all different combos of all settings. Set aperture then take a photo with all different shutter speeds. Then change aperture and do it all over again. A tripod would be highly advised for such an experiment. Write down each setting so when you develop film you can see what each one does. The camera only tells you the best setting. You can, however, get all kinds of neat effects with different settings and the only way to learn them is to do them yourself. Be aware of changes in light as this will effect your picture too and may not provide a clear understanding of the actual camera settings.
The last two links are message boards about your type of camera/lens. One is originally in French so you’ll have to use the ‘translate’ option to use it. But I am sure they will be able to tell you everything about your camera.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

Question: what is the value of a pentax 20mm f 4.5 takumar lens if anyone knows it would be usefull thak you.?
Answer: Condition is everything with s/h gear, do you have the original lens caps? Is there any fungus? Is the lens clear and free from scratches? Is the aperture working and ‘snappy’? Are there any signs of use, worn paint etc? All these effect value.
On the plus side it’s one of the rarer Pentax Takumar lenses, on the negative side they often suffer from a brown/yellow cast caused by a radio active element in the coating deteriorating.
For an absolutely mint lens with all it’s lens caps and in original pouch, value would be around £50.00, anything less and the price tumbles to less than £10.00. Not much I know.
All Pentax lenses have the advantage that they can be used on Pentax DSLR’s (with an adapter).
