Question: How to develope Holga film?
If i get a normal Holga Starter Kit and the 35mm adapter, can i easily get those developed at a local drug store? And the adapter just works fine instead of using the normal 120?
Answer: Well be careful now. You can develop but not print at your local lab. The images are too wide for the automatic mini-lab machine to print.
Also most local labs can only develop C41 film (look on the box). Most C41 is color film, though there is a “fake” Black and White C41 film you can buy.
You’ll have to ask for “negatives only – do not cut”
Then you will have to scan them at home. I use an Epson V100, very inexpensive regular scanner which also does negatives. There are many better scanners available than mine now, probably for less money too

Also, when you use the adaptor you may have some problems lining up your shots. The viewfinder will show a square image, but only the center gets in the photo.
I use masking tape and have two corners of the tape hovering in front of the viewfinder to show the top and bottom edges will be cut off. Do not put tape on the actual lens though.
Just remember the viewfinder is designed for a taller film and you should be fine.
Best of luck, Red Dog

Question: What kind of Holga should I buy?Should I buy a Holga or a pinhole lens with a Holga? Also, what is the difference between a Holga 135BC 35mm, Holga and 120 with the adapter kit of 35 millimeters? Which one is more durable, and will produce better results?
Answer: Pinhole photography can be fun, but if you're a beginning photographer, I would recommend getting a camera with a lens. I think that cameras are the best 120 machines film with 120 films, but if you want to get an easy start in the lo-fi photography, a 35mm camera can be a good way to go. I recommend a camera during a Holga with the film 35 millimeters back because unless you mount the gamma angle or fisheye lens accessory on the Holga, the photos will be cropped so unpredictable, because using only a small portion of the field of view lens. The negative side of others to use 35mm film in a Holga 120 camera is that the 35mm film is in the central area of 120 films, so that it is losing the vignette in the corners and you are using the most acute of the lens. What should you get? I usually like to recommend The 120N Holga 120FN or for beginners, but lately, I agree to the cameras 35mm-fi for beginners. Why? Are less expensive and simpler cameras. If you receive one of these cameras, it keeps the costs of exploring lo-fi photo on the economic side. You will not get the same look and feel with the 35mm, but much easier to learn and is a low cost camera and the film will help you understand if this works for you. If you find that photography toy camera is your passion, then you can explore getting the larger format 120 cameras. Look at one of these 35mm: Holga 135 or 135BC Manufacturer: http://freestylephoto.biz or http://bhphotovideo.com for about $ 46. Similar lenses and cheap operation as the Holga 120 cameras. 1 aperture setting (yes, the camera has 2 settings, but they are identical), 2 shutter settings, N (1 / 100 sec) and B (bulb setting) tripod mounting socket Release Cable If you want the corner vignetting, as larger format camera, get the Holga 135BC. photo sample: http://www.flickr.com/groups/holga135bc/ Superheadz Slim Black Devil Manufacturer: http://www.fourcornerstore.com/ or http://freestylephoto.biz for about $ 30. This is a clone based on the popular vintage Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim. Has no exposure control option and no flash but with its wider normal lens (22mm) is able to take some photos pending. Photos of example: There is a really good group of Flickr for these cameras yet, so the sample photos are Vivitar UWS http://www.flickr.com/groups/57074580 @ N00 / The Diana Mini Manufacturer: Lomography.com for about $ 60 Lomography has taken Diana camera, and reduced down to 35mm format. The Mini, while lack interchangeable lenses for full size Lomography Diana +, is still a feature packed camera (at least compared to the Holga and Black Slim Devil). The frame format is unusual. They stuck with the square shape of the Diana camera, but is centered on a standard 35 mm frame. The reason for the square floating frame 35 mm and that you are using a standard format of 35 mm plus 1-labs will now be able to deal easier to do scans and prints, as they are established for regular 35mm film. You can also set the half-frame 35mm camera, which is 2 vertical 24 millimeters x 17mm images. This translates into 2 images on a standard 35mm frame. Currently one of my favorites, live in my camera bag so it always at hand where I go. 2 settings for aperture, shutter settings 2, N (1 / 100 sec) and B (bulb setting) tripod, cable release socket This camera is unusual in that it has the square format, 24x24mm on a standard 35mm frame (24x36mm). It also offers an option of half-frame, 17x24mm frame (it doubles the number the exposure you get on a roll of film) camera Whatever your choice, remember that the point of lo-fi photography is for fun and not sweat the details!
