Question: Where can i find realistic looking World War 2 props to use in a movie?

Hey everyone! I’m a teenage film maker on a moderate budget, and am hoping to write and film a World War II film in the near future. I am just wondering where i could acquire some realistic yet cheap uniforms, and other prop weapons, that still look as if they were used in that time period. Any online stores where i could rent/buy props for my movie would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Answer: I would contact the local VFW chapter. They may have actual uniforms and equipment that they might let you use. They may also have vehicles on display, I remember seeing a Priest tank at a VFW hall in South Carolina a few years ago. Another idea is get on line and look for WW II reenactment groups that may be in your area. Some of these people actually have period correct vehicles as well as being able to dress up in correct uniforms of many of the countries that were involved. They have reenactments from time to time so that you might be able to shoot some of your film then.
You could also contact military bases in your area as sometimes they have displays of WWII equipment. If you need aircraft, war-birds of that era are around, you can usually catch some at local airshows. Most are privately owned so you’ll be dealing directly with an owner for the most part.
There are several large costume shops that may be able to help you Morris Costumes in Charlotte NC comes to mind. I’ve seen uniforms there. I think they will ship nationwide. Army surplus stores might be another go resource. Much of the equipment has not dramatically changed since the WWII and might be able to be used. Sometimes they also have older items on display as well.

Question: car charger or 12V plug?

when i plug my car charger into the cig adapter in my car the battery will not charge, but if i turn it inside the socket, it works. i think that the small metal contacts are bent to not make a strong enough connection. any other thoughts/repair ideas? also, will leaving the charger constantly pluged into the car, even when phone is not pluged in, a bad idea/cause breakage?

Answer: You should bend the contacts on the side of the plug and perhaps inside the socket until they make a more reliable connection. It is okay to leave the cord plugged into the cigarette lighter socket when the phone is not connected.
