Question: Canon camera not working?

I have a Canon PowerShot A70 and it was working fine, but now the lens isn’t working. I turn it on and it’s just black, it still has all the icons on the screen though. And no there isn’t a lens cap on it. Haha. We cleaned the lens with a glasses cleaner and everything and it’s open, but it didn’t work. It still records sounds in video mode and flashes when you take pictures, but they just dont show up. And last thing, it works in the viewing mode, but if you take pictures now it’s just a black screen, but the old pictures are there. I haven’t dropped it by the way. What’s wrong with it!? Please and Thanks!

Answer: Contact Canon. Per their website:

It has recently come to our attention that the vendor-supplied CCD image sensors used in this Canon digital camera may cause the following malfunction: When the product is used in recording or playback mode, the LCD screen and/or electronic viewfinder may exhibit either a distorted image or no image at all. While reports of this malfunction have been rare in the United States, we have determined that it may occur if the product is exposed to hot and humid environments.

Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon will repair, free of charge, products exhibiting the above-mentioned malfunction if the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair.

Question: Why can a picture on my Canon Powershot A610 LCD screen?

When I press the Menu button displays the menu. If I press the Display button, the display shows. It looks like on the screen, but it is not just a picture. And no, there is no lens cap in the way … trust me I checked. Before I go out and spend $ 200 on a new camera tomorrow, does anybody have any suggestions? Nope I just tried that the only option under powersave is if I do not want my camera automatically shut off when not in use, and for how long should wait before it shuts off. I have no idea what's going on, and all the workshops I called said I would have to wait two weeks until I return my camera … but I am going to Florence in 5 days! Someone please ! Help

Answer: Please go through the manual of your camera. There is an option in the settings that you can power To save off the LCD panel. Only if you fiddle with the buttons as you have, not to come. If you shoot pictures of remains. Change the settings to to keep the LCD and that should solve your problem.
