Question: Are theses lenses and flashes compatible with my Nikon D40?
Nikon 55-200 mm f4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens
Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light
Lumiere L.A. Photo Umbrella Floor Stand Light Kit
I’m an amateur photographer, and I was wondering if all flashes are compatible with the D40?
Thanks!Answer: AS photoace said these will all work well with your camera. And the SB800 can also act as the commander if you get more flashes to use in the creative lighting system
All flashes are not compatible. If its a Nikon flash you need to make sure its new enough that the sync trigger voltage is low enough not to harm your camera. If it is a 3rd party flash the same holds true and it will need a nikon module to give you many of the TTL functions though it still may work manually. If your sync trigger voltage is too high it can damage your camera. Conventional wisdom is for DSLR to keep it below 6 volts
Nikon just introduced a module to use with older flashes to make them compatible with the creative lighting system Wien also makes a hot shoe to hot shoe safe sync slave that will work
The nikon module can be seen herehttp://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Flashes/3070/SU-4-Wireless-Remote-TTL-Flash-Controller.html
The wein is here

There is a chart on sync voltages here but I cannot vouch for the accuracy of it
the chart I looked at is herehttp://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

Question: Photography Tips for a birthday party inside?I am photographing tonight the anniversary of my grandfather. It is a small affair with family and some friends in our home. The lights are yellow, but pale yellow. My mother is fussy about the colors, she said she wanted them bright and happy. The lighting of the room is rather dull, and she wants bright images happy not necessarily faithful to the room lighting, but still the colors pop. Does that make sense? oo I have a D3000 Nikon, an SB-600 Speedlight, the 18-55mm AF-S VR Lens Kit and 50mm f1.8D. Although I do not think I'll use the lens First night, I need the autofocus of the kit lens. It seems sufficient for anyway. I need suggestions on the flash and camera settings for the effect desired "happy" images, vivid colors and skin tones, etc. Thanks!
I am comfortable using the manual mode.

Answer: You have the right equipment, though you'll probably want to add a Gary Fong Flash Diffuser. Unless the 50 mm f/1.8 is an AF-S goal, you focus the lens manually. Make sure you have mastered this process perfectly sure to make some tests before the real part to get your perfect exposure. Flash help http://strobist.blogspot.com/

Question: Can we increase the memory of a USB Flash memory ?
I have one flash memory with 1.95 GB but i want to download a software with 4 GB.I have seen that, by downloading some software in the Pc we can increase the memory of a computer. Is it possible in USB.
Answer: No.
I think you’re getting ‘virtual memory’ on your computer with the physical memory of your USB flash drive.
Windows can use disk space on your regular hard drive to mimic memory that it needs to operate. This is called Virtual Memory. So for example, if your computer has 2GB of physical memory, and if you have Windows create 2GB of virtual memory, then you would have 4GB available to you to run things in Windows.
A USB flash drive is a piece of hardware that is manufactured at a set size. However, USB flash drives are VERY VERY VERY cheap. Check out eBay or Radio Shack for cheap prices for 4GB or 8GB drives; new or used.

Question: How can I convert the flash memory from large back to FAT32 without losing data?Suddenly, in mid-session I am now able to store or rename files on my 1GB flash memory with filenames> 22 characters. He seems to have been formatted for FAT rather than FAT32. How can I go back, and why did it occur?
Answer: You need to reformat by using the new file system. Back up data if you can, but there is no way to reformat and save the data.
