Question: Broken Lens on Camcorder???

After using my camcorder for three hours with the cameras light on to film my sister’s school project it stopped working right All it shows is a distorted view of what it is filming. It is now just shows thin vertical lines of color that pick up the light. I think the heat form the light ruined the lens. It plays back fine and everything else works. Does any one know what is spefically wrong with it and do I have to replace parts or ditch that and get a new one altoghter???

Answer: I had the exact same problem.i took mine to a camcorder store(ritz)and let them fix it and it cost $100.and still it isnt perfect.you can still see its messed up.i think the better thing to do is to buy a new camera.

Question: What size lens adapter will I need in the SMX-K40SP Samsung camcorder?

Answer: The Samsung SMX-K40SP is threaded 39mm lens barrel so any fisheye lens to match the size of thread work. A quick search did not come up with any so you have to use ring-down step and use a 42mm lens (See the link for an example). You can also contact Opteka and their advice as the best way set with one of your lenses.
