And you’re right about all of them, all those things DO make a difference.

One thing you did NOT mention is light fall-off.

Depending on what type of light (plus gels, perhaps) you use, influences your gradient. You can light a backdrop very evenly, or in such a way that there is a very definite fall-off (which is the gradient you mentioned), and both ways can look really good.

Question: Botero backgrounds?

I need a collapsible backdrop – Tired of dragging around a roll Large old muslin. I used the Westcott products before, but found a competitor called Botero on the website of the BH. We never used their orders? Thank you!

Answer: I used them, but some of them are synthetic materials that (rayon, nylon, etc.) instead of muslin. But keep in mind this was a pure white background, if it works well for this purpose (which I bought B & H).
