Question: How to upload RAW images to my computer?

I have a Panasonic Lumix (18x optical zoom, 27mm wide, 10 mega pixels…? If that matters) and a Mac (if that matters) and I took some macro photos in RAW setting on my camera, but they wont upload onto my computer. In fact, they will hardly do anything, they almost don’t even show up when uploading my pictures. I don’t know how to upload them, so if anyone can help that would be great. Thank you!

Answer: Most likely they did upload. They should be in the folder you upload to with a .raw file extension (at least I think that’s the extension Panasonic uses). You won’t, however, be able to preview them. That’s because they are literally raw data. To use them in general everyday stuff you need to convert them to a useful image format such as jpeg or tiff. This can be done in Photoshop or other image programs with a RAW converter.

Question: Which is better macro: Lumix FZ18 or Canon S5 IS?

Hi, I'ma contemplate between two cameras, Panasonic Lumix FZ18 and Canon S5 IS. I like to shoot macro with a digital camera. So I was wondering which one of them has a better macro capability. According to the specifications, the S5 IS is the minimum distance of 0 (zero) cm macro, while the FZ18's macro 1 cm away. But this is only the distance … And the quality of macro photos? thanks in advance.

Answer: Only you can verify that. Take a SD memory card with you to a shop that sells both models and use them to take pictures using the highest resolution your camera supports it, and use the macro mode on something with a lot of detail using the same light and the subject. bring home the paper, using the program to open both photos and enlarge to be 100%. Then compare the two. It should be fairly easy to see which produces the image quality. There really is no other way to do this. Depending the views of others may not meet your needs.
