Question: I have a 1997 chrysler concorde 3.5 and I’m having problems with the gear shift.?

When I shift into reverse, there’s a loud popping sound as if a piece of metal broke or something. There’s also a slightly loud thumpping sound I hear when I shift into drive, though not as loud. And as I accelerate, it hesitates to shift to the next gear. Previous to this mishap, I’ve been noticing that everytime I shift gears, I could feel the motor/engine move. My prognosis: loose, worn and/or damaged motor mount(s). If I’m correct, the problems I’m experiencing now with my transmission is due to the faulty motor mounts that may have affected the housing or positioning of the transmission also affecting its ability to shift properly. Can anyone confirm with or correct me on this???

Answer: The rear trans mount should be inspected at the same time as the other motor mount, they fail as often as the motor mounts.

Question: why is my 98 Eclipse GS shaking during takeoff?

Hello I was wondering if someone could help me. Wen-I begin to move, my car jerks very hard and the same thing when I threw it in reverse. I changed the rotors, but the shock was ahead that and that didn't help. In addition, the devices are sometimes very difficult to address. And when I'm in first gear and reach about 4500 RPM there is a metal scraping noise when I press the clutch. The casing is cracked tranny beside the front mount .. Is this a problem? or perhaps engine mounts? Please help …… thank you

Answer: Sounds like a bad motor mount … with cover in place have someone rev the engine everything is stalled while you look at engine, to validate the approach to motor up and down when this is done, it is a bad motor mount.
