Question: Photography for 13 years old?

My 13 year old son wants to get into photography, he takes pictures with a Kodak E / S C433, but isn't great quality, I mean to put up with a decent camera, a tripod, and bag and other things they need. I still use a 5MP point and shoot and get great images printed in 8X10. Perhaps you not need a new camera, but may be elements such as a tripod to help in photography. Question: USB Cords?

Are all USB cords pretty much universal or is there different sizes? Because i have a camcorder and a digital camera (both canon) and i dont have the usb cable for the camcorder but the one for the camera fits the slot, but when i try to use it it says no camera is detected… could it be because it’s not the right usb cord or is something else wrong?

Question: Does anyone know where I can find an original charger for the Hitachi DZ-MV730A DVD CAMCORDER ????????

I lost the original charger for this camera and without it, I can not finalize the disc in order to reproduce. All universal chargers are great but do not have this feature. SUGGESTIONS ANY would be appreciated as I sit here with a camera of $ 500 (when we bought it) and we can not use it for what for! But do not come with charger, universal plug-in hole (lack of terminology) to connect to the finalizer. Other ways to finalize the disc?
