Question: Slave Flash versus radio station?

What do you think is a better idea, my two slave flashes, or a flash and a radio transmitter. (the is all I can really afford right now.) I'm more interested in the slave because I have more light, especially if I have them both ride on the pop-up on my camera. If not, I would one of them as master / trigger in the hotshoe of the camera and the other on a stand. If radio is better?

Answer: have 3 choices, optical slaves, Infared systems and radio transmitters. Optical slaves work in some situations, but as perki did not say all of them. And some optical Slaves are triggered by the onboard cameras preflashes so that they fire at the wrong time. Add to this the fact that the built-in flash is very strong and in many of your applications you want any light coming directly from the IR camera like the Nikon CLS system can be set so that the onboard stobe is in command of the work and not even a flash memory or a flash and a commander both. The amazing what people can do like Joe McNally, the Nikon CLS. and it has the advantage that the iTTL. I have a lot of luck infrared applications in the line of sight radio trigger for me was the most reliable and if I make sure that the lightning flashes of fire, or its my machine on the go. I PocketWizard Plus IIs, but they are expensive, so recently I had some of the Radio Popper JRX I can get a TX and Rec both for less than one Free pocket wizards would, and I have great luck with them, even so far as to fair distances and with lightning shooting out of the buiding in the windows, as Lighting on a subject within had. If you are looking for reasonably priced flash units that can be fired from a radio or optical slave you want perhaps in the eyes of their Lumopro LP120 much light for the money, but all manual no TTL function
