Question: Strong, durable paper mache as Film costume props?

My team and I have been working very hard at making a Halo Fanfilm. The entire film takes place around a battalion of ODST Marines. We’ve written the bulk of the script and are fine tuning it.

The one thing that is impeding this film are the armor pieces for the Marines. Making 6-8 ODST costumes out of pepakura and doing the fiberglass/resin technique would just simply take waaaaay too long.

So we thought that using Paper Mache would be the best way to make the armor and cut the time down drastically

1) Would the paper mache work for this?
2) Is it durable and strong enough for heavy action scenes?
3) Would it warp the 110lb cardstock the pepakura is printed on?
4) What formula and paper would be required to make the top the questions work?
Here is the armor we need to make:

Answer: Check out these previous answers here relating to the same thing:

And p.s., I wouldn’t use plaster over papier mache because it’s kind of brittle, but soaking it with gauze could be okay. Regular papier mache would probably be better though.
