Question: What is the best macro lens for the Nikon D200?
I’ll be using it to photograph detais of old farm machinery and tools (not for bugs or flowers). I have the Nikon 35-70mm 2.8 which is good for close ups, but doesn’t go to 1:1 macro.
Answer: Why don’t you try one of Nikon’s close-up attachments?
Here’s a page on them:

They have an excellent reputation and cost much less than a new lens.
On your razor-sharp 35-70 (isn’t it a great lens?) they might do the trick.
Hope this helps.
Another excellent place to find Flower Lens is on Amazon… They have way more than just books!

Question: This question is published for photographers. Which is more useful, a flower or a hood hood rubber?Answer: I agree that is a question of opinion. Here's my take on it: rubber hoods are good since the collapse, but may also fall, hoods flower fall too, but usually click and then you are more aware. hoods are shaped flower so that the corners are not cut out the image, this allows them to have greater reach, the rubber caps are always round, this limits the scope, they also have a general entry, so it's hard to tell just by looking at the package if it is cut off or not. Both styles have the advantage of protecting the glass from impact, but there's this story, if you use a circular polarizer, is easier to bend back the rubber one for the correct alignment of the polarization. This is tedious work with a flower. As I said both protect, but the rubber has advantage in terms of usability. For me it comes down to what is necessary, certainly enjoy a flower to its greatest extent, but gum is better for many situations, but alas, the scope increase is very good at blocking lens flare. I give the flower to the edge, something you can never the rubber.
