Question: How can I convert slides into digital photos?
Can I use a regular scanner? What about negatives?
Answer: A flatbed with a “slide adapter” can do it, but if you have a lot to do it might be worth considering investing in a proper slide/film scanner. I did as I had a lot of old film negatives I wanted to digitise.
These have a light on one side of the slide/film and a small, very high resolution scanner on th eother, and tend to come with an interface to make it easy to get the colours right. Remember each film / slide type has it’s own colour balance, and the slide scanners make it much eaasier to get this pretty good before it even gets to the likes of photoshop.
I got mine from jessops ( www.jessops.com ) about 3 yrs ago, and not looked back
Another excellent place to find Slide Negative Digital is on Amazon… They have way more than just books!

Question: What should I buy Multifunction Photo Printer – HP 7180, HP 3310, Canon MP830? Why?I've been looking online at different Multi-function printers and their ratings. I would like an overall good printer for my home office. I like the HP Photosmart printers, because they contain negative / slide scanner (and I would like to make digital copies of any photos of the last 20-30 years). I like the Canon printers, because with very small ink droplet size (1 pl). I have not seen other printers with so small, which means that the canons should have better photo quality printing. I read reviews, but there are many people's preferences and dislikes, all of them want. The requirements I have are: good picture quality, good text quality, multifunction, PictBridge compatible. I would like to hear your opinions and listening experience. Thank you.
Answer: None ……… Epson CX4800 It works perfect, El Cheapo comp used inkjets smoothly across the stage, he has a 9 in 1 card reader, has USB 2.0. Sorry, I do not do a lot of pix on it but the ones I've made are very good.

Question: Hard travel case?
I am looking for a hard travel case for my camera and equipment, such as lenses, filters, flash, and so on. I have looked on ebay and other places even nikon and canon and all they have are soft case travel bags. I want it to be sturdy enough that It could stand against 200 pounds. Does anyone know of a place I can go to find cases like these for cameras and equipment?
Answer: The two biggest brands are Pelican and Storm Case.
If you live near “The Container Store” they also sell hard-sided steel trunks. You’d have to get your own foam. And you’d need to check with your airline (if you go by air) as to what the maximum checked luggage size/weight is. It changes almost every day, it seems.
But from what I’ve seen, the best bargains at the Container Store are for their commerical plastic cases. To check it out, visit the Container Store at containerstore.com then click on collections>hobby>utility cases. You’d have to buy foam separately.
Here’s a link to Storm Case:

You can also shop at botac.com for Storm Case and Pelican.
EDIT: For goodness sake, don’t shop at Broadway Photo like someone suggested! They are a ripoff place.
