Question: I took a picture years ago that seemed to have captured a demonic being and I can’t figure out was it is. help?

I was in the back of the auditorium. At the time there was about 20 people(total) there. About 4 rows in front of me, there was an average man walking from my right to my left and behind him, there was something else entirely. I don’t remember what it was wearing(black) I focused on the face. It was a perfect profile view. It had a black skin tone that looked like it had been pulled tight, very smooth with high cheek bones. the nose was long and pointed and the eyes, unlike red eye, glowed bright and beady although it wasn’t looking at the camera. The back of the head waved and faded into the background like it was smoke disappearing in wisps.

Answer: You “caught” something in a picture (that isn’t even posted here) and you automatically jump to the conclusion that it “must” be a demon?

Question: What is the effect and how it gets called?

In black and white portraits, what is the effect called in which everything is perfectly black except for the skin? How to setup the lighting for this effect and what settings (shutter speed, ISO, aperture) if chamber be? How much of this effect is created during the post-processing in programs like Photoshop? Here's an example: http://marlene-d.deviantart.com/art/heavy-heart-119340495 Thanks to Marlene-d on deviantART for publication of photos in the first place!

Low-key Answer: It's called, with the theme on the image link it is easy as the contrast between the girls with black hair and his face is already there, just a strait shot against a black background with light measuring soft skin. If the subject Rubio is, then it is much more difficult because you have to stop the light falling on the hair leaving it in deep shadow. The form more usual to do this is with a Snoot. This demonstrates what I mean http://zootsnoot.com/ can make anything, even a piece of paper wrapped around the flash, The idea is that it gives a pool of light, is exposed for the group to leave everything in the light closer to black. The Snoot length determines the size of the pool of light. With black paper is a definite edge to light with white paper "bullets" in black. Chris
