Question: What is the best setting to get high quality photo in digital IXUS 85 IS CANON camera ?

Answer: I’m not sure how different the 85 is, but I have the Ixus 75. One of the first steps is too make sure the camera is taking photos at the highest quality possible. Make sure that the settings when taking a picture are on ‘L’ (the highest resolution) and ‘Superfine’ on the other icon.

As for the mode, I find that Auto does a fine job anyway.

Again, sorry if your camera’s settings are not like this – I’m using the Ixus 75.

Question: On a Canon Digital Ixus 70 (digital camera) How do you get black and white?

On a Canon Digital Ixus 70 (digital camera) the how you get to take pictures in black and white? Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry, I lost my instructions: (Thanks! X

Answer: There is something in the menu that allows cameras, but do what most of us … get great color photos of everything and then use our photo programs to convert only those images that might look great in black and white using the tools of the program. Open the image file using the tool and set saturation -100 to save the new image as a new name so as not to overwrite the file origninal. Use the tool to set the threshold level of black, white threshold and then using Setting the tone medium until you have your black and white perfect photo. DONE!

Question: I heard a tinkling sound coming out of my Ni-cad battery, then charge long inured!?

I have a Ni-Cd battery and charging problems. I watch it on the charger and it says 'charge' for 3 minutes then goes away. So I stick the charger and it says 'charge' for a period of time long (like 5), but it gets warmer … I finally feel like a 'little tinkle' sound in my Ni-cad and then refuses to load for 15 minutes or so … whats up with it? its a camcorder battery for JVC videomovie 1986, but this is beyond the point. The model number for the battery is NB-P7U. rather People do not comment How old is the camera.

Answer: This is probably due to 1) dendritic short circuit the batteries NiCd, when not used regularly, tend to develop dendrites which are thin, conductive crystals that penetrate the separator membrane between electrodes. This leads to short internal circuits and premature failure, long before the office 800-1000 / discharge cycle life claimed by most vendors. Sometimes, applying a short pulse of charge high current to individual cells can eliminate these dendrites, but in general the reform within days or even hours. The cells in this state have reached the end of their lives useful and should be replaced. 2) Over heating: High quality NiCd have a thermal break (you probably hear this click) so if the battery gets too hot you charger stops. If a NiCd is still hot exhaust, and was put in charge, can not get a full charge. In that case, let the battery cool to room temperature, then loads. Watch for the correct polarity. Leave in a cool charger during charging for best results. 3) or may be a reversal of cells which is uncommon with a camera rather common with rechargeable lights. Inspect the batteries have no external damage, it should have 1.3V – 1.4V per cell when fully charged and about 0.8-1V when discharged.
