Question: How do I remove date on Canon Digital IXUS 8015?

Help – hubby has lost the manual to my Canon Digital IXUS 8015 – can anyone tell me how to remove the date so that it does not show up on pictures? Thanks!

Answer: Turning the Date Stamp off is a very good idea, not only because your images are permantly marred if you use this option…but also, because the Date Stamp can ONLY be used in very low resolution images of 2MP (1600 x 1200).

Your 8MP camera shoots images at a best quality of Large/Superfine (3264 x 2448) so all you would really have to do to stop the Date Stamp, is change your image resolution and quality back to this Large/Superfine setting.

If you have lost the User Guide for your Ixus 80 IS (also known as SD1100 IS), I recommend you go to the link below to download and save it, because you really can’t do without it…

Embedding the Date (or turning it off) can be found on pages 20-21…I recommend you turn it off and then change your image resolution and quality back to Large/Superfine for the best possible quality images.

good luck

Question: Are replacement batteries for the Canon IXUS 970 IS safe for the camera?

Hi, I just bought a IXUS 970 IS and would like to buy batteries for. Most guns are around 30 pounds and was looking into cheaper alternatives. I know that for some devices using "unofficial power" can damage (eg PSP). Could someone advise me of this and, if possible, recommend a cheap alternative to the good life battery for this device? Thank you very much, Sam

Response: I do not want to risk buying a non-Canon brand battery. Honestly, you do not really need more batteries … maybe just one more if you make much use of the heavy camera … but not more than that. The Ixus 970 IS (SD890 IS) has an excellent battery life for an ultra compact Ixus cameras (up to 320 pictures per full charge), so I do not see why you should definitely one more at this point. These types of batteries (Li) can be loaded at any time if you give him a higher loading before you need the camera, you probably will not have a problem with the battery drain on you.
