Question: How long does a lithium rechargerable camera battery general last before replacement?

Is there any way to find out if the battery is begining to fail?

Answer: Modern Lithium Poly cells “last” for about 300-500 charges. But “last” is defined to be the point at which a full charge only hits 80% of the original charge. So it may be even a bit longer before you notice it.

Older Li-ion cells actually handle more charges, maybe as many as 1,000 full charge-discharge cycles. But they also age independently of the use, dropping between 5% and 20% of total capacity every year, depending on how they’re kept (temperatures, charged or discharged, etc).

End of life/failure is really more of a judgment call than a specific event, since, aside from drastic failure (damage or defect), they just get progressively worse. But it happens slow enough you may not notice, unless you’re comparing an older cell against a new one. If you start to notice the battery just seems to die sooner than it once did, it’s probably about time to think about a replacement.

One thing to watch… Li-ion and Li-poly cells can be damaged by draining them too far. What happens is that a secondary battery more or less forms in the contact area of the cell and starts to kill the contact. So while you really want to fully discharge NiCAD and NiMh cells for the best performance, you shouldn’t let a Lithium cell die completely. Most Li powered devices are smart enough to prevent this level of discharge, but particularly if it’s an expensive battery, it doesn’t hurt to watch out for it.

Question: I lost the receipt, there's a way I could send the Sanyo camera and send a cam replacement?

I did not drop my camera, but the internal screen is busted. I can still take pictures, but I can not see on the screen

Answer: L 'only way a camera can get busted psychically is to buy drop or bang on something. Things just do not get busted psychically alone. As mentioned first contact for the manufacture and if the camera is registered it will ask you to send them to determine if it is covered by warranty. I'm telling you now It does not cover abuse.
