Question: I need your opinion on this softbox kit?

Hello guys

I’d like to know what do you think about this lighting kit for the advanced photographer

Thank you

Answer: i havent use a soft box for years, i construct my own diffusion screens and find the flexiblity they offer far better than soft boxes

the lights linked look like crap to me, i have never seen them in use either in still photography or the TV world

honestly two $10 flash units behind diffusion panels would give you better results (well for me anyway),

lights are very complicated to use, someone that knows lighting can use any old flash lights to get good results – its about the knowledge not the lights one uses

so my idea would be go learn lighting before investing in lights – that way you wil know what to buy, try a community college night course or something

Another excellent place to find Softbox Kit is on Amazon… They have way more than just books!

Question: Any lighting advice …?

Does anyone have a favorite lighting kit or individual pieces of lighting for portraits , advertising photography? I would be really grateful if you could give me specific models and such, not only a "softbox" or "reflector" Thank You!

Answer: I have a Britek Kit with 2 440ws flashes and one flash with a 150W Snoot and Honeycomb. I use a large 45 "white Umbrella for fill and a 36 "octagon softbox for Keylight. This is a kit. The other kit is 2 SPStudio 300W / s flash, one with an umbrella and shoot Fill the other with a 45 "white umbrella for. sometimes instead of the shoot through umbrella I use a homemade beauty dish. It is a little out of Control how small it is, so I end up with the shooting lights between 1 / 8 and 1 / 4 power. I have also lights 4 or 5 of the lamp flash. One of them is in able to be connected to a cable, the others are all slaves. They are ideal for background lighting or backlights just as when I shoot someone in black letters on a black background.
