Question: Why a digicam over a DSLR?

With excellent DSLR cameras from Sony, Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm, Canon, Pentax and Sigma selling for well under $1,000.00, why would anyone choose to buy a digicam for $799.00 (Fujifilm FinePix S100FS, MSR)?

Perhaps my bewilderment is caused by 37 years of having my eye to a viewfinder and enjoying interchangeable lenses. My “compact” camera has always been a Minolta Hi-Matic 7SII rangefinder.

Answer: I tend to think that people don’t want to be bothered learning the DSLR settings.

I know that I am technophobic and have difficulty learning anything like that, but I persevere with my DSLR because it’s important to me.

To many people it is simply not important enough to make the effort. They don’t want to have to think, they want the camera to do it for them

Then there is the size issue as another answerer mentioned.

People in general want machines and gizmos that do all the work and do the thinking for them. It’s a sign of our times. L.

Question: What do you think of the Nikon N5005 SLR film?

I wonder about the N5005 film SLR camera. It will cost me $ 60 and includes a carrying bag and Nikon 28-80mm Sigma zoom and 70-210 zoom lens. Do you think it is a reasonable price for the camera? I am deciding between that and Pentax PZ10 one, both are around the same price and am a bit conflicted about what to get, and do not know much about the cameras. In your opinion, which is the better camera? Thanks bunch. ~ Nicole.xx
