Question: Will using an off-brand lens….?
… such as both a sigma AND tamaron (sp?) lens on a CANON digital camera screw up the auto-focus/docking lock on it? I heard somewhere that canon camera use specialized mechanisms to lock their lenses in and have them function. Is it true?
Someone on eBay is selling a canon digital camera with two generic lenses from lesser-name makers. Should I buy, or ignore? (I DO need auto focus; though I can focus the camera perfectly on my own, sometimes I have to let others use it to snap a quick shot who know less about a camera than SHEEP do)
Thx,
-PAnswer: If it has the proper canon mount then no it will not mess up your camera. You should know canon has two types of mounts an FD mount and an EF mount and they are not interchangable. Make sure the lens you are buying match your camera’s mount. Otherwise people use sigma and tamaron lenses routinely on canon and other cameras.
That said third party lenses usually are not the same quality of Nikon or Canon lenses. That does not mean they cannot give good results or that they will not funtion properly. Its all in your expectations

Question: Help! My camera lens does not work?Hello! I have a Nikon D80 and an AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm. Recently this objective has stopped autofocusing and whenever I try to take a picture with her, he makes a whirring noise and will not auto-focus, not allowing me take the picture. The lens is still working on the manual and I have other goals that still work with my camera on auto-focus, so I know it must be the goal. This problem is repairable, or do I need to find a new target?
Answer: The goal is definitely repairable. You do not know if you take him for a pro evaluation. The real question is whether its worth the cost of repair. Nikkor 18-55, I see the AF-S at B & H from $ 95 to $ 180. You'll have to compare the costs of repair vs. replacement cost of your goal specific.
