Question: How to choose a telescope eyepiece quality on a budget?

My main interests are currently in planetary observation. I have a 5 "diaphragm, focal length 1000mm, Newtonian reflector scope. I prefer the quality of the images followed by pupil. I'm interested in 4mm, 6mm, 12mm and 40mm optics. Minimum focus when you switch lenses is important. I am looking eye less than $ 100 each, for now. Which producers / brands, series, and best types to satisfy my needs? Why are the best for my needs? Also, is the Celestron Accessory Kit worth buying? I came across some useful resources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthoscopic_Eyepiece Eyepiece_designs #, and have decided I like the last line of Celestron X-Cel (http://www.celestron.com/c2/category.php?CatID=37), which can be purchased at a good price ($ 62 each) to www.telescopes.com

Answer: Injanier you have already given an excellent response and I agree with everything he said. In addition to orthoscopics he recommended, I would recommend Ultrascopics Orion and Tele Vue Plössls. These are very reasonably priced and are significantly better quality than the generic Plössls China sells all the others. Celestron kit is a waste of money. The eyepieces are all second rate, and the filters does not help much. Instead a pair of eyes and of high quality will be much happier. With your scope, I'd recommend something around 5 to 6 mm, giving 167x 200x, good for an enlargement planets. If the short eye relief is a problem, or go to a Barlow lens and a 10 to 12 mm eyepiece, or watch Orion Stratus series, which offer excellent qulaitity, wide field of view and long eye relief. Make sure you have a decent Barlow, as the Orion Shorty Plus or the Tele Vue Barlow as the less are rubbish.
