Question: Mini DVD To Computer Help!?

I used a video camera to film, and the camera uses a mini DVD. I have inserted the disk into my comouter, and the computer detects it, but it says there are no files on it. When I put it back onto the video camera, all the video clips are still viewable. Is the disc corrupt? Is there anyway I could re-write the clips from the camera onto another CD?

Answer: The problem is that you have not finalised (or ‘closed’) the DVD while it is in your camcorder.

If you want to edit your videos then try it this way

Use a programme such as Corel VideoStudio – you take the mini-disc out of your camcorder and put it into the DVD tray of your PC making sure it sits centrally in the little depression made for it. You may have to ‘finalise’ the mini DVD your camera manual will tell you how to do that – you should note though that once you have finalised a disc you will not be able to use it again or add further videos to it.

Inside VideoStudio you select “Insert DVD/DVD-VR” and point the programme at the DVD and follow the prompts and the video is copied from the disc into the timeline of VideoStudio so that you can edit it – add lots of different videos together cut out bits you don’t want – add titles/music/narration – If you wish you can then output a file to e-mail or upload to Youtube etc. – and finally burn to a full size DVD to play in a standard player.
