Question: What’s the difference between a circular polarizer filter and a linear polarizer filter?

How do I know which one to use? Are they to be used in different situations?

Answer: Well the first and previous posters are slightly misinformed. The advantage of a circular polarizer is that you can “Dial in” the effect by rotating one of the two pieces of glass while the other is stationary. (And yes, there are DEFINITELY two pieces of glass) That way, if you want to see a little deeper into the pond to see the fish better, but not so much that it you can’t see the surface of the water, or if you want to darken the sky a bit to bring out the clouds, but not so much it looks unrealistic, you can.

Furthermore the original poster seems to imply that an auto-focus lens will not be able to auto-focus with a linear polarizer. This is not the case at all. The issue is that when you focus, the lens barrel rotates, dialing the effect of your polarizer in and out. So you get your polarizer set just right, and you focus, and bam, your polarizer isn’t just right anymore.

My advice is to spend the extra money on the circular polarizer for the extra control. Focus first, then set the polarizer.

Q: What polarizing filter to buy all the super-angle lens?

77mm polarizer What should I buy to use in my Sigma 10-20mm lens without problems? (Good price, without bullets, not falling apart .. etc) Thanks =)

Answer: None (while can find one, can not work as expected) … Polarizing filters are designed for lenses no greater than 24 mm on a 35mm camera. Two reasons for it. 1) when using a polarizing filter to darken the sky, the haze is greater than 90 degrees to the suns path … none when parallel to its trajectory. 2) reflections usually captured by super wide angle lenses are used in image compositing. You have to write Tiffen, Hoya or B & W filter companies and see what they can do for you.

Question: How does a Strobe trigger coil work?

Does it produce the actual light flashes or does it just trigger a strobe light to do the flashing.
This is the example:

If it does “trigger” a strobe light then can an LED be used, both components be soldered on the PCB, and the LED will flash when triggered by the “Strobe trigger coil”?

Answer: It is a self induce voltage transformer. A very high ratio that steps up the pulsed voltage into triggering level of a few thousand volts similar to the ignition coil in your car. The high voltage is applied to the side probe of the Xenon light bulb that will initiate the xenon gas to conduct and discharge a source of current. e.g. (from a large capacitor).

Question: Did anyone get migraines triggered by fluorescent lighting (energy efficient) light bulbs?

I am dreading the day when substitute light bulbs everywhere with them. I am very sensitive and sometimes can trigger migraines. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing. You can also get migraines with flashing lights (like a light bulb that goes in the office) or a camera flash.

Answer: These things can also trigger epileptic seizures. The flash tube in and out of alternating electrical current that powers them. That's why you can see the flicker in elderly die. To the extent the light emitted by fluorescent lighting common, NOT A FULL SPECTRUM wavelength. You should have full-spectrum fluorescent tubes for replace light bulbs, mercury vapor tubes, it is more common, and find it easier to light in his eyes.
