Question: Is it worth Buying a 20 watt strobe light for my room for just £8!?

Been loking though a few strobe lights and most 20 watts are around a tener,
worth buying or not?

Answer: I guess it depends on whether you think you will use the strobe light that much. They get old pretty fast. If you are only going to use it a couple of times it seems like a waste. Have you hung in out small rooms with strobe lights on? Personally I hate it, it makes me disoriented and not in a good way.

Question: strobe light?

I want a mini festival, and we will listen to techno music in a dark room. I was thinking, that would be great to have a strobe light! but do not have one, but I was thinking, there are four teams with big deskrop monitors along one wall, there is a program you can download that can make the computer act like a strobe light?

Answer: Windows Media Player has a Display screen protector. just silence all equipment and loop songs that are forever views. that have a variety of display screens. I do all the time. lol … I am happy to know that I am not the only one listening parties. lol

First up, let”s start by searching Ebay for Stand Tripod Max:

Question: I am looking to get a tripod but am confused over the maximum heights of all the ones I have looked at so far?

I want to take pictures where I can stand upright (mainly looking to use it for landscapes, panoramas etc). I haven’t been looking long but all the ones I see online appear to max out at 1500mm (not quite 5ft).
Are all photographers that use tripods really short – or am I missing something?
Even with my camera on top I would not be able to compose a decent shot without wrecking my back whilst attempting to peer through the viewfinder at a much lower than comfortable working height.

Please advise me – is there some basic gem of knowledge I am just overlooking?

Answer: There are tripods with three extensions to the legs and there are those with four, obviously the four segment ones will go higher, but they are not as stable, won’t take such a heavy camera and they are heavier to carry, I’ve found a heavy tripod rarely get carried anywhere, which kinda defeats the purpose.

One piece of advice I would offer buy quality – buy once. Gitzo and Manfrotto are good, I’m still using a Manfrotto tripod I bought 40 years ago and it still works as it did on day one (doesn’t look the same though LOL).

With cheap tripods you are forever having to re-adjust as the camera will just ‘droop’ off frame, they are a real pain to use. With a quality tripod you frame the shot, lock off the ball head and it stays exactly where you put it, even with a heavy camera and long telephoto lens.

Often the problem is just the opposite of your question, you can’t get them low enough. With landscapes you tend to want a foreground, middle ground and distant object(s), often my camera is just a few inches off the ground for this, as I want them all in focus, a small aperture is called for, which means slow shutter speeds, hence the tripod. With wide angle lenses and medium apertures, say f8 or whatever the ‘sweet spot’ for your lens is, your shutter speed would be fast enough to hand hold anyway at eye level.

Question: Almost decided on a new camcorder – amateur videos, short films (for students), friends, etc. ..?

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DCR…&qid=1197535467&sr=1-1 Questions: 1) I am pretty sure that this edited with Windows Movie Maker and Apple-compatible programs, but I want to make sure. My previous Sony handicam rejected the collaboration with WMM, and would contain only the S ** ty-editing software. 2) Do MiniDV tapes only in the last 30 minutes? 3) What is the difference between Firewire and USB – how does it affect performance? 4) I need recommendations for a tripod / stand. Nothing super fancy, just something that works and will not collapse and break my camera. $ 25 max. 5) If the camera is really, really, really sucks, what to recommend to you. ($ 350-450 budget). 6) Comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! I have studied for a while so honest reassurance is nice!

Answer: 1 / The link does not work, I do not know which camcorder you look at. If there MiniDV, you should "be OK". 2 / No – they are 60 min. 3 / It is not a performance problem – you can only with the velocity transferred to the tape. It's not whether you have the latest USB or Firewire, you can not capture all the video faster. Firewire for video transfer designed – USB not. The end result is that the use of USB recording of the video often results in audio and video of synch. Look up isochronous data transfer, if you go into technical Details are interested. 4 / Sorry, I do not know what is available in the U.S.. I doubt that you will get something useful for $ 25 but only if you go to the Camcorder snaps into place. Even then I would not guarantee it will be quiet. 5 / I do not know what you are looking at camcorders. If it's a Sony, it's probably OK though! Maybe You want to think about using an external microphone – You can with this camcorder?
