Question: What kind of filter do I need for my camera to get that "Movie" look?
You know how live TV and a movie have diffrent looks to them?Well then you know the same goes for pictures. After showing people a few pic I have taken they each swear I need to go into potography...Although I never thought about it before it does appeal to me.I would like to find a filter for my digital camera that gives the picture that "Movie" look. What kind of filter do I need? Can I even find on for my digital? Thanks for your help!
Answer: It's not so much a filter effect as it is a film effect. I guess it depends on what particular kind of movie look you're going for-- the old vintage B&W look, for instance, or maybe the color shifted Matrix or Domino look?
Most of the time these days, movies that have noticeable color shifts in their visuals have had them added in during post-production. This is usually done digitally. You can tweak the colors, levels, and grain of your photos in Photoshop or other image editing software.
If you're using film, try cross-processing. You shoot your pictures with slide film (E-6 chemistry) and then get the film processed in color negative C-41 chemistry. It turns your slides into negatives that don't have that dark yellow film base. Essentially, when you make prints from cross-processed film, you usually get super-saturated, rather unnatural colors in everything. The effect is kinda unpredictable, depending on how old your slide film is before you shoot. You can even use film that is way out of date. I've used stuff from 1997 before.
If you wanna try black and white, maybe start out with T-Max 400 film to give you a really contrasty effect. You could also try T-Max 3200, a really high speed film that'll give you a very grainy look.
These film choices will give your pictures an interesting effect. Compositionally, I tend to think about really dramatic light when I think of a "movie" look. Employ both light and shadow when you compose a shot. Eliminate unnecessary background distractions and focus on the really interesting things about your subject.
I hope this helped.

Question: Is a UV filter on a digital camera or is it really necessary to decrease the image quality they are?Answer: This is supposed to block UV light ultaviolet, and the reason given is that the blue component of sunlight also contains UV, and that causes the blue image to get a little 'more exposure, Making a bluish image. But digital cameras have sophisticated algorithms that should make white balance the colors come out well, so the first answer would be no. In fact, my link on points like a lot of UV filter lenses already, leaving the filter obsolete. A good portion photogs to put the UV filter on only when you use any other filter, why would you keep a filter on the lens for protection. What would you rather scratch? The filter or lens? But no photographer but I would say that the image quality suffers when you insert any type of glass in front of the lens, including a UV filter. Not by much, but it is there. And this is where the debate is. It is worthwhile to put the filter to protect that expensive lens? especially when you've invested so much to buy a high quality image only reduce the quality of its results with an economic purpose UV? Or is it more important to protect it from scratches? Personally, if I had a slow expensive, yes, I a filter on it all the time, but each photographer has their own individual preferences.
