Question: Best lens filter for shooting waterfalls? easy ten?

Would you reccomend a polarized filter or a neutral density filter for shooting a waterfall?
I’m new to this and trying not to go over my budget so i can only buy one. Which is better? Or is neither good? Whats your oppinion/experience? Thanks! easy ten!

Answer: If you want that really silky, fluffy look that people get when shooting a waterfall, the most important thing to have is a good tripod. You get that blurred look from a long exposure, and for long exposures, you need a tripod. A neutral density filter makes this easier as well, as they are basically sunglasses for your lens- they block out light. Set the camera up on a tripod, use a small aperture (larger f stop number), and shoot in lower light, closer to sunrise or sunset. It will be difficult to get a long enough exposure in midday sun. Use the built in timer or an external release (some cameras use cable releases, some use wireless releases) to keep the camera from shaking. The longer the shutter is open, the more pronounced the silky blurred effect of the water going over the rocks will be.

Question: Can I use a different filter on my skylight or UV filter in photography?

I always have a UV filter fitted to my standard Soom Lens. Can I screw other filters (eg, neutral density, polarizing) on top of it? So, what is the main difference between a neutral density filter and a polarizing filter and if I have one over the other, which should I buy I choose?

Answer: Stacking filters is usually not a problem unless They come with a wide-angle lens – then you can experience "vignetting" a darkening at the corners of the frame. However, stacking filter has the potential to to cause glare and / or reflections, since the elements are separated. IMO you would be wise to avoid stacking filters when it is absolutely necessary. A circular polarizer is used to darken a blue sky and remove the glare / reflections from water, sand, glass, snow and painted metal – but not polished metal. One should Photographers will be in every camera bag. A neutral density (ND) filter is used to reduce the amount of light through the lens, without the added color. The original Use has been with cameras, if the ISO setting, the film was too fast to achieve certain effects. A film, photographers, ISO 400 film loaded, and would like to shoot at a waterfall and blur the water, but must say that even with F16 or F22, the shutter speed is still too high. He then had an ND filter to the amount of light and lower the To reduce the shutter speed to get the results he wanted. Although the digital Photograhers can easily change its ISO setting, in some situations, he can determine that even the lowest ISO and the smallest f does not stop give the results wanted. Then an ND filter is necessary – just like the movie Photograhers mentioned. A circular polarizer can act as an ND filter, because it usually reduces the light by 1-2 stops. Always Quality Filters – Heliopan, B + W, Singh Buy-Ray, Tiffen, Hoya are all good brands.
