Question: How do I get my digital camera from automatically zooming and going haywire?

I have a Panasonic Lumix for about 3 years; never been dropped. I’m not sure if I pressed something, but it keeps automatically zooming to the max and I can’t take pictures. When I go to the options, everything will be flashing, like it is scanning through the options on its own. Nothing- no buttons- look stuck. How do I fix this?
I have already taken the battery out; then back in, nothing happens.

Answer: It is auto zoom auto-focus mode for far away shots. Go to menu and find the mode for standard shots. If you go to menu and explore various options, you may find it. I don’t know how it would be featured though. But, that is why it is doing that.

Question: Photography: White soft umbrellas VS black backed?

I was wondering what the differences and purposes are of white and black (backed) umbrellas.

I know the very basics of umbrella work; either have the flash bounce off the umbrella or shoot through it. I was hoping to buy myself an umbrella or two and thus I’d like to know which ones I need.

My first thought was to buy a white umbrella so I can shoot through it (as I do a generous amount of portraits) but then I thought “what if I want to bounce the flash off the umbrella, is there not going to be as much light bouncing off as there would an umbrella with a black background?”

Do black-backed umbrellas reflect more light (is black a barrier?) than white ones?

I know that on the market are white umbrellas with a black cover that can be de/reattached, thus solving my dilema but I’d still like to know.

P.S. I apologize for my question’s lack of structure and clarity, but any light shed on the subject would be greatly appreciated :)

Answer: White is more versatile: some of the light passes through and reflects off surfaces [wall, ceiling] behind the umbrella, bouncing forward onto the subject again. You can also place the flash behind the umbrella for an even more diffuse light.

The black backed are more specific, giving a large but single source light since none of the light passes through and bounces forward again.

White has been used forever, black has it’s place but will never be as universally popular.

Question: my first studio lighting class in the next month, wants to get my light in front of the class, so Im not lost completely?

So what beat Before. I was told that 3 is light at best. But if I have gone online 3 lights are quite expensive. May I add a different light later? What do I have to look if I have to buy? In the longer a soft box lights instead of umbrellas, but what about continuous, Cool Flo, Strobe / Flash is what happens to Watt? Any suggestions? Off topic. My Sister in law bought her lighting set not long ago. And she took my family portraits. I told her that I would photo-shop our pictures, because I knew that it employs was. So they gave me the hard drive. Our pictures were not so great, the lighting was so bad. My hubby had dark circles trying to shade around the eyes and as I work our pictures with white background, I know just do not see the background without washing could get us out. Then we looked for pictures with black background yellow or washed out. This had a theme lighting. Right?

Answer: First of all, if you are in a studio lighting class, no lights use to you, you should looking for a new program. A portion of the test point below the class diff. Brands and types of lighting. You're not going to want it, lit Buy up to havsome solid theory of light and experience w / whats available. As for the lighting situation, the white background will always look gray when the camera set it to zero because of the exposure meter. His job is to take all the light in a scene and the average gray to 18%. So, if something is not quite white, meters that programmed the expo reto average of 18% gray, so that your white is gray if you always have around one end to suspend copensate. the same search for the black Washed out, you have to suspend taking. Now you have to do some research on global chnges and masking, if you be in a position to want to set the background w / out cause the issue
