Question: battery charger or adapter? What is better for a digital camera?

I searched and it seems to serve the same purpose (to avoid buying batteries constantly), even if I could be wrong. For my Canon PowerShot A570 IS

Answer: They are used for two entirely different purposes. The battery charger fits your needs best. You can load a set of batteries while using another. If you get NiMH AA, with a high mA-hr rating (2300 or above) the batteries will last much longer. Remember not to use technical management of energy during the shooting. Use the LCD as little as possible after each firing sequence off the device. The actual recording of the image uses less power. LCD, auto-focus and zoom features use the most. AC adapters are used when the camera is in a studio and will not be moved. I set up for shooting small products, and I an adapter attached to the tripod in order to use AC power when I worked there. Walking around your camera attached an extension cord does not make much sense.
